Eiichi Toriyama

President
Kyocera Communications, Inc.
Eiichi Toriyama is the President of Kyocera Communications, Inc. (KCI). KCI, headquartered in San Diego, comprises the combined sales, marketing, customer engineering and service functions for all Kyocera- and Sanyo-branded wireless devices in the Americas. Following Kyocera's acquisition of Sanyo's mobile device business in 2008, KCI was formed in 2009 to integrate Kyocera Wireless Corp. (KWC) and Kyocera Sanyo Telecom Inc. (KSTI), the companies' respective wireless divisions in North America.

Toriyama joined Kyocera Corp. in Japan in 1972. All of his 37 years with the company have been spent in sales and marketing roles. He was the Managing Executive Officer and Deputy General Manager of Kyocera's Corporate Electronic Component Group, where his customers included the world's largest mobile device manufacturers. In 2006 he moved to the company's Corporate Communication Equipment Group where he assumed leadership of sales and marketing for Kyocera's mobile device business in Japan. Following Kyocera's 2008 purchase of Sanyo's mobile device business, Toriyama was instrumental in the integration of the business units and the strengthening of the combined mobile device division. This culminated with his relocation to San Diego, Calif. in 2009 to lead the newly created KCI. Toriyama holds a degree in law from Tokyo's Rikyo/St. Paul University.
